FOREWORD

• Hitachi Model Ul41 is a convertible excavator developed as a result of our years of on-the-job experience and most modern techniques plus a high degree of machining skills along with the use of top quality materials, and it incorporates many prominent features.
• This machine can be used as a shovel, backhoe, dragline, clamshell as well as a crane merely by replacing the attachments. Also, Model Ul41L is a convertible excavator made substantially based on the above Model Ul41 and ensuring increased stability.
• This machine is available preferably as a clamshell and dragline in addition to a crane. The excavator introduced herein has been manufactured under exacting quality control to enable the functions to be displayed to the fullest any time.
• We therefore believe that the users will find satisfaction in the performance. And, in order to have the machine display its functions fully and obtain trouble-free service over long time periods, it will be necessary to have a thorough understanding of the construction and follow correctly the specified work procedures including, operation, maintenance and oiling & greasing as well as adequate usage.
• Moreover, the machine incorporates Vctrious safety devices. If there is anything ensuring the safety, it is to keep the machine in optimun condition and operate it correctly as suggested at all times. It is therefore strongly recommended that this operation manual containing helpful operating instructions be read carefully prior to operating and even in operation as necessary.
• Moreover, if you have any doubtful point involved in the maintenance service, please ask the Hitachi service shop near you about it quite freely. For the detailed information of engine, please refer to “Engine Operation Manual” attached separately.
