TO THE READER:
This Workshop Manual has been prepared to provide servicing personnel with information on the mechanism,
service and maintenance of KUBOTA Tractor BX1830 and BX2230. It is divided into two parts, “Mechanism” and
“Servicing” for each section.
■ Mechanism
Information on the construction and function are included. This part should be understood before proceeding with
troubleshooting, disassembling and servicing.
Refer to Diesel engine / Tractor Mechanism Workshop Manual (Code No. 97897-01872 / 97897-18200) for the one
which has not been described to this workshop manual.
■ Servicing
The heading “General” includes general precautions, check and maintenance and special tools. Other section,
there are troubleshooting, servicing specification lists, checking and adjusting, disassembling and assembling, and
servicing which cover procedures, precautions, factory specifications and allowable limits.
All information illustrations and specifications contained in this manual are based on the latest product information
available at the time of publication.

The Kubota BX1830 and BX2230 are compact tractors designed for residential and light-duty agricultural work. They are similar in design, but the BX2230 has a more powerful engine and some additional features.

1. Kubota BX1830:

• The Kubota BX1830 is powered by a 3-cylinder, liquid-cooled diesel engine that provides 18 horsepower. It has a hydrostatic transmission with dual-range speed control, allowing the operator to easily adjust speed to match the task at hand. The BX1830 also has a 3-point hitch system that allows for easy attachment of a variety of implements, such as a front-end loader, backhoe, or rotary cutter.
• The tractor has a mid-PTO and rear-PTO that allow for the use of different attachments, such as a mower or tiller. Additionally, the tractor has a hydraulic power steering system that makes it easy to turn and operate. The BX1830 is also equipped with a rollover protection system (ROPS) to keep the operator safe in the event of a rollover.
• Other features of the BX1830 include a comfortable operator’s station with a high-back seat, a large fuel tank that can hold up to 6.6 gallons of diesel, and a sturdy frame and front axle that can withstand heavy use and rough terrain.

1. Kubota BX2230:

• The Kubota BX2230 is similar to the BX1830 in design but features a more powerful 22-horsepower, 3-cylinder diesel engine. Like the BX1830, it has a hydrostatic transmission with dual-range speed control, a 3-point hitch system, and mid-PTO and rear-PTO that allow for the use of different attachments. The BX2230 also has a hydraulic power steering system and a ROPS for operator safety.
• In addition to these features, the BX2230 has a deluxe operator’s station with an adjustable seat, tilt steering, and digital instrument panel. It also has a differential lock that provides better traction in slippery or uneven terrain. The BX2230 has a larger fuel tank than the BX1830, with a capacity of 7.4 gallons.
• Overall, the Kubota BX1830 and BX2230 are reliable and versatile compact tractors that are suitable for a variety of tasks. They are easy to operate, maintain, and maneuver in tight spaces, making them popular choices among landscapers, hobby farmers, and homeowners. The BX2230 is a slightly more powerful and feature-rich option, but both tractors offer excellent value for their price range.
